Google recently announced they are switching to mobile first indexing. What does it mean for you and your website? On 27 March, Google began to implement mobile-first indexing. In their words, "... being like a a single library that is now beginning to replace print books (desktop pages) with ebooks (mobile pages). Over time, the library will be mostly ebooks (mobile). But print books (desktop) will always remain part of the mix in the library." This is after 18 months of   testing and experimentation, and represents Google's latest efforts to make the internet more mobile-friendly and resemble user trends. The video below showcases what can go wrong when two different businesses share a website between them.  Yes, you read that correctly. One business was split into two and they shared a website. This case study is from back in 2014, pre Google's local pack. Enjoy the hilarious outcome of one Canberra business struggling to make sense of google, mobile phones and technology in general. This is actually a great example of why web designers should design for mobile first. I tried really hard to assist this client, but they believed things were okay.
